If there is one type of project we had always wanted to design, a guitar store would definitely be on the list.
For many musicians, guitar shops are more than retail spaces — they are places filled with memories, inspiration, and emotion. Back in school days, whenever there was free time, spending hours inside guitar stores simply trying instruments and absorbing the atmosphere was already a form of happiness.
This project became an opportunity for The Collective Studio to finally design a showroom dedicated to that experience.
From Residential House to Guitar Showroom
The project site was originally a residential house, with the owner living upstairs while planning to transform the ground floor into a guitar showroom and retail space.
When we first visited the site, construction was already underway. However, before proceeding further, we asked the team to pause parts of the system installation because the new interior design would significantly affect furniture placement and spatial organization.

Beyond interior design, the client also wanted a complete corporate identity system — including logo design, artwork, digital graphics, and printed materials.
The branding was developed using elements inspired by the form of a guitar itself, primarily using black and white tones to create a clean and timeless visual identity adaptable across multiple media platforms.

Designing the Feeling of a “Villa”
The word “Villa” became the emotional foundation of the project.
Rather than creating a conventional music retail showroom, we wanted the space to recreate the feeling of gathering with friends in a countryside villa — sitting together, playing acoustic guitars, sharing music, and enjoying a warm atmosphere.
That nostalgic emotion became the heart of the showroom design.
Creating Warmth Through Space & Materials
Upon entering the store, visitors are welcomed by a long service counter positioned along the left side of the space.
Wooden architectural elements were used to create the atmosphere of a relaxed villa environment without relying on literal residential forms such as pitched roofs.
The logo wall was designed using black steel combined with textured black wood surfaces, creating a subtle “black-on-black” visual effect that gives depth and mystery to the space.
Grey brick walls, exposed concrete textures, and industrial materials were layered together to balance warmth with contemporary character.
Turning Constraints into Highlights
One of the biggest spatial challenges was a structural column located directly in the center of the showroom.
Instead of hiding it, we transformed it into the main focal point of the store.
The column was redesigned as a “tree” structure that functions as a central guitar display installation — bringing a natural element into the showroom while becoming the visual centerpiece of the entire space.
Around this central feature, accessory displays were arranged to encourage relaxed browsing and customer interaction.
A Music Space Designed for Experience
Deeper inside the showroom, guitars are displayed along the walls while the center area is intentionally left open as a comfortable testing space where customers can sit and play instruments naturally.
At the back of the store, a small performance stage was designed to resemble a cozy living room inside a countryside villa.
Vintage lighting, musical instruments, and warm decorative details create an intimate atmosphere where guitars, piano, and drums can come together as part of a shared musical experience.
The project ultimately became more than a retail showroom.
It became a space designed around emotion, memory, and the simple joy of music itself.
