Scope of Work: Interior Design

Cinco Café is a renovation of an existing café space—reimagined to feel more intentional, more atmospheric, and more usable throughout the day. Rather than focusing only on a visual upgrade, the project was designed as a day-to-night experience, where each zone supports different behaviors and moods: quick morning coffee, relaxed midday conversations, and intimate evening gatherings.
Inspired by the name “Cinco” (five in Spanish), the concept transforms “five” into a living spatial narrative—five moments of the day and five sensory dimensions—creating a warm, eclectic place that feels like a comforting refuge for travelers and locals alike.
Design Challenge
The existing space had strong potential, but the overall experience needed clearer structure and atmosphere—especially because the café serves different needs at different times.
The key challenge was to create one café with multiple “modes”:
Morning: bright, fast, energetic, easy to access
Midday: flexible seating for meetings, casual meals, and longer stays
Evening: warm, intimate, and more private for relaxed dining and conversations
The goal was to redesign the space so it could adapt naturally throughout the day—without feeling like separate places stitched together.

Concept: A Journey Through the Day
Cinco Café was designed around a simple idea: time shapes experience.
From dawn to night, the interior becomes a sequence of mood transitions—guided by zoning, lighting, material cues, and spatial layering. The concept blends:
European vintage character (aged textures, nostalgic details, warm tones)
Middle Eastern-inspired elegance (ornamental accents, layered ambience, and a sense of intimacy)
Together, these influences create an Eclectic Vintage identity—where contrasts are carefully balanced to feel welcoming, soulful, and lived-in.
Zoning & Space Planning
To support daily rhythm and diverse usage patterns, the space was reorganized into clear zones and a smooth experience flow.
1) Zones designed for different times of day
Outdoor seating for quick stops and street-facing energy
Entrance + main café zone for high turnover and daytime activity
Transition seating for longer stays and flexible group sizes
Semi-private and private zones for evening dining and intimate conversations

2) Clear circulation for both guests and staff
A key part of the renovation was improving circulation:
guest movement feels intuitive and relaxed
staff flow is efficient and unobtrusive This reduces cross-traffic, supports smoother service, and improves comfort in every seating area.

Spatial Storytelling: 5 Moments of the Day
The project narrative unfolds through five “moments,” each shaping atmosphere and behavior:
Dawn — light, fresh, welcoming
Morning — energetic, social, efficient
Noon — calm, flexible, comfortable for longer stays
Evening — warmer, softer, more relaxed
Night — intimate, quiet, and private
The result is a café that feels alive throughout the day—a place that changes mood without changing its identity.
