A Secret Safehouse Cafe Hidden in Khao Yai

At the end of 2017, The Collective Studio was commissioned to design a café project in Khao Yai with a rather unusual brief.

The client wanted the café to feel mysterious—almost like a hidden place that nobody should talk about. The name“Please Don’t Tell” itself carried a sense of secrecy, while the brand’s iconic cigar-smoking dog logo absolutely had to remain part of the identity.

That combination left our team wondering:How could we connect these two seemingly unrelated ideas into one coherent experience?

The project site was originally the clubhouse of the development. We began by redesigning the entire spatial layout—both inside the building and throughout the surrounding landscape—to better support the functionality of a high-traffic cafe.

The circulation, kitchen operations, service routes, and delivery access were carefully reorganized to make the space practical and efficient, while still preserving the relaxed atmosphere of the original pavilion.

After many rounds of brainstorming, we finally arrived at a concept:

What if this cigar-smoking dog was imagined as an Italian mafia boss—something reminiscent of Don Vito Corleone from The Godfather

And what if this place became his secret safehouse hidden deep within the mountains?

A place where people could escape the chaos of everyday life, retreat into nature, and quietly recharge both body and mind.

That idea became the foundation of Please Don’t Tell—a hidden café in Khao Yai designed as a mysterious refuge surrounded by nature, waiting for travelers to discover it.

A place to breathe fresh air, slow down, and disappear for a while.

But remember…Please Don’t Tell.
