At the ASA Architect Expo 2026 (Architect’69), The Collective Studio is proud to showcase the architectural model of Hong Sieng Kong within the "ASA All Member 2026: Thailand Only" exhibition. This curated space brings together the perspectives of Thai architects to address the most pressing questions in contemporary design.

For us, Hong Sieng Kong is more than just a restaurant and café; it is a masterclass in working with "The Existing." It is a dialogue between original structures, urban context, spatial memory, and the evolving rhythms of daily life, all meticulously reshaped through design.

Amidst a massive showcase of technology and innovation, ASA2026 invites us to reconsider the future: perhaps the evolution of Thai architecture doesn’t always lie in building the "new," but in the ability to perceive the value of the "old" and breathe new life into it.

ASA2026: Designing with Mindfulness in a Shifting World

This year’s expo follows the theme "SATI : WISDOM : PROMPT" (สติมา : ปัญญา : พร้อม(ท์)), reflecting the vital role of the designer in an era of AI disruption and rapidly changing human behavior.

In our view, "SATI" (Mindfulness) is the act of pausing to observe the context with profound care.

"WISDOM" is the ability to interpret and extract value from what already exists. And "PROMPT" moves beyond digital commands to the essential questions we ask ourselves as designers. In a world saturated with data, the core question is no longer just "What can we build?" but "How can we deeply understand the people and the heritage that came before us?"

ASA All Member 2026: Thailand Only — A Space for Local Dialogue

The ASA All Member 2026: Thailand Only exhibition is more than just a gallery of works; it is a platform that explores the "spectrum" of contemporary Thai architecture through the eyes of diverse designers.

The intrigue of "Thailand Only" does not lie in searching for a ready-made Thai identity, but in exploring how the Thai Context—with its urban complexity, informal daily life, and the adaptability of old buildings—shapes our design thinking. For The Collective Studio, this is where Hong Sieng Kong naturally joins the conversation, representing a bridge between local heritage and modern urban needs.

Hong Sieng Kong: From Heritage to Living Urban Experience

Hong Sieng Kong was born from reading the context rather than starting with a blank canvas. Instead of erasing history to create a new image, we worked with the traces of time, the original structure, and the atmospheric soul of the neighborhood.

At The Collective Studio, our philosophy is rooted in the belief that design is not just about form—it is about experience. As highlighted in our studio profile, we specialize in "breathing new life into old buildings," blending contemporary aesthetics with unique functionalism. Hong Sieng Kong stands as a definitive example of Adaptive Reuse, transforming a historic site into a vibrant new destination for the city.

Design Driven by Storytelling

We believe great design starts with questions that go deeper than aesthetics:

What was this space before?

How did people interact with it?

What values must be preserved?

These questions allowed us to move beyond material selection to curate a sequence of experiences—the play of light and shadow, the tactile textures, and the emotional resonance felt as one moves through the site.

From Model to Message: Why Physicality Still Matters

In an age of AI visualizations and digital renders, the Architectural Model remains a powerful medium. For Hong Sieng Kong, the model does not just show what the project looks like; it explains the "Thinking Process" behind it.

The physical model allows the viewer to see the holistic relationship between mass, void, and urban flow. It demonstrates that the design of an existing building is not merely about redecorating an old shell, but an intricate surgical intervention—reading the original structure carefully to reveal the new potential hidden within.

Hospitality as a Meaningful Space

Hong Sieng Kong also reflects our commitment to designing hospitality spaces as "Experience Hubs." In a time when diners seek stories and meaning over just a meal, the architecture becomes the brand itself. A well-designed space adds value to the economy, preserves social heritage, and elevates everyday moments into something extraordinary.

Redefining "Contemporary Thai"

Contemporary Thai architecture doesn’t always need to invent a new language. Sometimes, it is found in reinterpreting the old with fresh eyes, understanding local context without merely mimicking the past, and using technology to enhance traditional wisdom. Hong Sieng Kong does not try to be entirely new, nor does it stay frozen in the past; it creates a bridge between eras.

The Collective Studio: Shaping the Contemporary City

Participating in ASA All Member 2026 is our way of contributing to the conversation on where Thai architecture is headed. As technology and urban behaviors shift, our role as designers is to link these changes to meaningful spaces. Hong Sieng Kong is our testament to that belief.
