This year, we are thrilled to be part of Bangkok Design Week 2025, showcasing our work in an exciting and challenging project.
The main theme for this year is "Design Up+Rising", which emphasizes the power of positivity in driving change and adapting to challenges through meaningful design. Inspired by this concept, we came up with the idea for the Lucky Home Booth.
Our Lucky Home Booth is designed to resemble a slot machine, where players get a single chance to pull the lever and test their luck. Will your dream home be perfect, or will it come with unexpected challenges?
This interactive experience is not just about having fun—it also reflects the common belief that many people rely on fate when choosing a home or designing their ideal life.
And that’s where our question arises...
“A dream home or a good life... Does it come from luck or thoughtful planning?”
Yes, this is the question we want everyone to think about after trying our Lucky Home Booth. It symbolizes that life decisions and design shouldn’t depend only on luck or beliefs, but should also involve thoughtful planning for a better quality of life.
Alright! When luck determines your home just once, what will your home turn out to be like? ... This is exactly what we want everyone to think about and experience with our work! Now, let’s take a look at the details of the booth. Let’s go!
Concept Design Idea : Lucky Home
We designed the Lucky Home Booth to resemble a machine of the future, with a sleek, glossy surface that gives a futuristic feel, symbolizing the openness to new energy. Combined with the look of a slot machine, it reflects a life that blends reason with fate.
Concept Graphic Design Idea : Lucky Home
Before the graphic design of Lucky Home was created, we studied symbols of good luck from various sources, such as ancient Chinese feng shui, which helps create balance between nature and life for success, and Thai beliefs about good and bad luck, like the superstition that encountering a black cat could bring bad luck, among others.
The use of Thai graphic patterns in the design of the Lucky Home Booth blends traditional Thai beliefs with the idea of bringing luck into our homes. It is similar to the practice of fortune-telling with siam see, where the fate is predicted, and the booth design also mirrors the concept of tarot card reading, with uncertain results.
The Lucky Home Booth becomes like a game of chance, where players can choose their luck by "predicting" their life. The Thai symbols used in the booth reflect the beliefs and fate of the home in the future. Now, let’s take a look at the six symbols and the card components of the booth!
Symbols : Lucky Home
The Sun
The sun is a symbol of new beginnings and the driving force of life. It represents inspiration, enthusiasm, and leadership that push us forward with confidence. The color orange is associated with warmth and the energy of fresh starts, providing positive energy and enthusiasm in every aspect of life.
The Key
The key represents opportunities waiting to be discovered and secrets waiting to be revealed. It reflects the power to solve problems and the ability to shape one's own path in life. Open your mind to new opportunities and step toward a better future! The color purple is used to symbolize mystery and wisdom, often associated with openness to new things and personal growth.
The Moon
The moon represents emotions, relationships, and instincts that shift with the rhythms of life. It symbolizes letting go of lingering thoughts and preparing for a new beginning. Everything has its own cycle. We use light pink to enhance inner healing, bringing balance and calmness to emotions and the mind.
Evil Eye
The Evil Eye is a symbol of protection that helps ward off negative energy, envy, and enhances positivity in life. It acts like a shield, allowing us to move forward confidently and safely. The color blue, associated with calmness and protection, connects us to friendliness and invites positive energy into our lives.
Money
Money is a symbol that everyone desires, representing success, abundance, and financial stability. It attracts good fortune and opens the path to a prosperous life. The radiant golden yellow symbolizes wealth and brings prosperity to every journey. Using the color yellow, the color of luck and abundance, helps connect with prosperity and attract success.
Elixir Bottle
The Elixir Bottle is like an elixir of life, symbolizing the power of rejuvenation, luxury, and mystery. It represents a force that enhances life in all aspects—body, mind, and spirit. It brings brightness and positive energy to every day. The fuchsia color represents the power of life and inner balance, helping to refresh and rejuvenate our lives.
The Lucky Home Booth combines beliefs and home design, bringing good luck to the players. The fortune-telling cards make the process of choosing a home more fun and exciting, designed similarly to international tarot cards. Plus, the cards can be kept as personal keepsakes.
The fortune-telling cards consist of three main parts: the name of the home, the symbol, and the prediction. These cards are designed to be modern, vibrant, and with a graphic style that feels contemporary, blending in with Thai fonts like Torsilp Ramruai, SR FahThai, and THSaraban—distinct fonts that give a unique Thai flair. Not only do these cards predict fate, but they also help us understand the characteristics of the home we might have in the future, while enhancing the experience of luck in a fun and colorful way.
And finally, "Design Up+Rising with a Dream Home" is about using the power of thoughtful and rational thinking to create something better, not leaving life solely to the uncertainty of fate. Through design that reflects a balance between luck and logical planning, it leads to the creation of a home that’s not just a dream home, but a home that truly meets the needs of living.
By playing the Lucky Home Booth, players will experience fun, excitement, and learning. In the end, they will realize that the true positive energy doesn't come from luck, but from design that has been thoughtfully crafted with clear goals in mind to create a truly good life. Because design is not just about solving problems, it’s about creating positive energy that drives life forward.
