MISSURI is a fashion rental showroom designed to transform the experience of selecting outfits into something immersive, expressive, and emotionally engaging. Located within a former classic curtain showroom, the project began with an intriguing contrast between the client’s futuristic vision and the existing architectural character of the space.
The client envisioned a bold atmosphere inspired by EDM culture, dynamic lighting, and contemporary fashion aesthetics. Rather than erasing the original classic interior details, The Collective Studio chose to reinterpret them—allowing the old and new to coexist within a single spatial narrative.
The result is a showroom design that feels theatrical, energetic, and unexpected.

Design Concept
“When Modernity Invades the Classical”
The core idea behind MISSURI emerged from the tension between two opposing aesthetics:
Classical architectural elements inherited from the original building
Aggressive geometric forms inspired by futuristic nightlife culture
Instead of treating these elements as conflicts, the design transforms them into a layered visual experience. Sharp triangular structures appear to “grow” across the space, gradually overtaking the classic interior like a contemporary force reshaping the past.
This contrast creates a unique atmosphere where fashion, music, lighting, and architecture blend together into a memorable retail environment.

Spatial Experience
The showroom was designed to feel more like an experiential fashion venue than a conventional rental shop.
Dynamic LED lighting, reflective surfaces, geometric installations, and dramatic visual transitions create an environment that evolves throughout the customer journey. Every area was carefully composed to enhance emotional engagement while maintaining practical circulation and display functionality.
The integration of sound, lighting, and spatial layering allows customers to feel immersed in the atmosphere before even trying on a dress—turning the act of choosing fashion into part of the entertainment itself.

Material & Interior Direction
The design preserves portions of the original classical ceiling details and architectural ornamentation, contrasting them with modern materials and angular forms.
Key materials include:
Black steel elements
LED lighting systems
Reflective surfaces
Contemporary geometric structures
Existing classical moldings and decorative details
This combination creates a visual language that feels both nostalgic and futuristic at the same time.

Design Outcome
MISSURI became more than a fashion rental showroom. It evolved into a highly recognizable retail identity—one that communicates individuality, energy, and contemporary culture through interior architecture.
The project reflects The Collective Studio’s approach to showroom design:creating emotionally engaging spaces that strengthen brand identity while delivering memorable customer experiences.

In design, we never truly know what will happen along the way.
Sometimes the best ideas emerge unexpectedly — through limitations, accidents, or moments we never planned for. And perhaps, the only thing we can do…is allow the process to unfold naturally.
If I should stumble on my moment in time,
How will I know?
If the story's written on my face, does it show?
Am I strong enough to walk on water
Smart enough to come in out of the rain?
Or am I a fool going where the wind blows?
We may let the wind guide us through life, but we should never let it carry us away completely.
