The Collective Joins “Talk On Site” & “Rebuild Rebrand Renovation” at the 2024 Southern Architects Appreciation Event

On Saturday, May 18, 2024, the Southern Architects Committee under the Association of Siamese Architects under Royal Patronage hosted the annual Southern Architects Appreciation Event 2024 at Buri Sriphu Boutique Hotel.
The event brought together architects, designers, and industry professionals through a series of activities, including Talk On Site, the senior architects appreciation ceremony, and an evening discussion session titled “Rebuild Rebrand Renovation: Retelling Old Buildings Through New Perspectives.”
Talk On Site: Renovation & Rebranding Through Design
The afternoon Talk On Site session explored the transformation of Buri Sriphu Boutique Hotel through both architectural renovation and brand repositioning.
The session featured insights from the hotel’s executive team together with Kobchai Limponthevin, who led the renovation design of the project — from the hotel façade and restaurant spaces to the fitness center, swimming pool, and guest rooms. The project also included a complete branding redesign, covering the logo system, wall art, and hospitality packaging throughout the hotel.
The concept behind Buri Sriphu was developed around the idea of becoming an “Oasis of Hat Yai” — a place where modern MICE travelers can recharge, reconnect, and relax after long days of business and travel.
Participants were also invited to walk through the actual project site and experience the design approach firsthand.

Rebuild Rebrand Renovation: Bringing Old Buildings Back to Life
The evening discussion session, “Rebuild Rebrand Renovation: Retelling Old Buildings Through New Perspectives,” focused on the value of adaptive reuse and renovation storytelling.
The Collective Studio joined the panel alongside Sukol Songsi from the page รีโนเวทบ้านสไตล์พี่ใหญ่ sharing experiences from various renovation projects and design journeys.
During the talk, The Collective Studio shared behind-the-scenes stories from the 'Hong Sieng Kong' project — a transformation of an abandoned historic building into a café filled with memories and stories from the Talad Noi neighborhood. The discussion highlighted how architecture, storytelling, and branding can work together to revive forgotten spaces and reconnect them with contemporary audiences.
For The Collective Studio, participating in this event was an opportunity to exchange perspectives on renovation, adaptive reuse, and experience-driven design with fellow architects and industry professionals.
The event also reinforced an important belief behind our work: successful renovation is not only about restoring physical structures, but about redefining identity, creating emotional connections, and giving old spaces a meaningful future once again.
