Kafelao is a small specialty coffee shop in Vientiane created for one of our long-term clients, with whom we have collaborated on several projects throughout the city.
The vision behind the café was simple yet meaningful:to create a gathering place for people who genuinely appreciate coffee.
The owner carefully oversees every stage of the process — from selecting local coffee beans and roasting them, to crafting each individual cup served to customers.
Inspired by the idea of elevating the value of locally grown Lao coffee — proving that it can stand proudly alongside international coffee cultures — we designed the renovation of this pavilion as an open and welcoming space that reflects the warmth and authenticity of local materials and regional character.
The café encourages interaction and conversation. Guests can order coffee and sit directly near the barista area, where the team is always ready to share stories about the beans, roasting techniques, and brewing process in a friendly and engaging way.
For those seeking a quieter atmosphere, the café also provides more private corners for relaxing conversations and slow coffee moments.
Beyond coffee, the experience is complemented by a selection of local Lao desserts alongside Western-style pastries, allowing visitors to experience multiple layers of culture within a single space.
