The Collective Studio was commissioned to design a Kawasaki Big Bike showroom and service center in Phrae, Thailand — a project envisioned as one of the most distinctive motorcycle showrooms in Northern Thailand.
The client’s brief was surprisingly simple:
“Create something unique. The rest is up to you.”
That freedom became the starting point for developing a showroom design rooted in storytelling, atmosphere, and emotional experience.

Reimagining a Vintage Kawasaki Factory
After extensive concept development, we arrived at a vision that shaped the entire project:
What if a vintage Kawasaki factory from the 1950s suddenly appeared at a street corner in the city of Phrae — but inside, customers would discover the latest generation of Kawasaki motorcycles?
That contrast between past and present became the heart of the architectural narrative.
Rather than designing a conventional modern showroom, we transformed the space into an industrial environment inspired by Kawasaki’s early manufacturing era, blending nostalgic factory aesthetics with contemporary motorcycle culture.

Functional Retail Planning with Industrial Character
The main showroom occupies four connected commercial units.
Since the original black granite flooring had already been installed prior to the renovation, we chose to preserve it and instead focused on layering industrial architectural elements throughout the space to reinforce the atmosphere of an old factory.
The showroom layout was organized with:
motorcycle display zones positioned along the glass façade
a central reception counter aligned directly with the main entrance
integrated sales and financial service areas
a shared operational workspace for staff efficiency
an open customer waiting lounge connected visually to surrounding zones
This planning strategy allows the showroom to function efficiently with a streamlined staff operation while maintaining clear customer circulation throughout the space.

Service Center Inside a Retro Industrial Warehouse
The service center was developed within an existing warehouse structure located behind the main showroom building.
To improve functionality and circulation, the service center was designed with its own dedicated customer access separate from the showroom entrance.
The original warehouse structure was intentionally preserved and highlighted through the showroom design approach:
naturally ventilated open spaces
industrial steel structures
natural daylight utilization
reduced dependence on air-conditioning systems
This creates a practical and energy-efficient working environment while reinforcing the authentic industrial atmosphere of the project.
Although the environment feels vintage and raw, the workshop itself remains fully equipped with modern Kawasaki-standard tools and professional servicing systems.

More Than a Motorcycle Showroom
Beyond motorcycles, the project also integrates:
café space
lifestyle retail area
motorcycle accessories display
apparel and merchandise zones
These functions are connected seamlessly throughout the showroom, encouraging visitors to explore the space casually — whether they arrive to purchase a motorcycle, service their bike, enjoy coffee, or simply experience the atmosphere.
The result is a showroom design that feels immersive, nostalgic, functional, and deeply connected to motorcycle culture.
