This hotel project, Hotel ‘Sri Ayutthaya’, received the MERIT Award in Hospitality Design from the International Design Awards (IDA) 2018, presented at the BCI Asia Awards.
The project began at a unique stage—after the architectural construction had already started.
The client approached us to enrich the interior design with a compelling narrative, while working within tight constraints and an ongoing construction timeline.
Our design concept was inspired by the historical significance of Ayutthaya as a global trading hub, where people from diverse cultures gathered and exchanged goods, ideas, and experiences.
We reinterpreted this identity into a contemporary hospitality experience—transforming the hotel into a modern cultural crossroads, where travelers from around the world connect and share stories.

Using a palette of colors and materials that reflect a strong sense of local identity and vernacular character.

The reception area introduces this concept through a stylized map of Ayutthaya, symbolizing the starting point of each guest’s journey. Multilingual greetings represent the spirit of global hospitality and inclusivity.
DORMITORY
Guest rooms are uniquely themed after different nationalities that once played a role in Ayutthaya’s history. Each room reflects cultural elements and narratives, creating distinctive identities and immersive experiences.
Studio rooms, in particular, evoke the atmosphere of travel and maritime journeys—connecting past exploration with present-day stays.
The studio room is designed to evoke the spirit of travel and maritime journeys, creating an atmosphere of exploration and movement.
CAFE
At the front of the property, a small café was integrated to enhance the guest experience, offering a welcoming space that blends hospitality with local charm.
Despite the tight schedule and construction limitations, this project demonstrates how storytelling can elevate design—bringing history into the present and creating a meaningful, memorable stay for every guest.
